Slash Commands & Internal Linking: Connect Everything in Your Journal

Every document in My Prop Journal is now connected. Type `/` anywhere in the editor to open the slash command menu and link to any piece of content in your journal — trades, write-ups, reviews, playbooks, strategies, trade plans, session notes, chart books, report cards, and notebook notes.

Your journal is only as useful as how well the pieces connect. A playbook that references your best examples, a trade plan that links to the strategies inside it, a report card that points to the trades behind the numbers — that's a living, connected knowledge base. Slash commands and internal linking make that possible without ever leaving the document you're working in.

What's New

The Slash Command Menu

Type / anywhere in the editor to open the slash command menu. Under Internal Links, you'll find every linkable content type in the app:

  • Session Note — Link to a session note
  • Trade Plan — Link to a trade plan
  • Playbook — Link to a playbook
  • Strategy — Link to a strategy
  • Chart Book — Insert a chart with tags
  • Note — Link to a Trader's Notebook entry
  • Trade Write-up — Link to a trade write-up
  • Trade Review — Link to a trade review
  • Report Card — Link to a report card

Select the content type, search for the specific item, and the link is inserted inline in your document. Navigate the menu with arrow keys or type to filter — select with Enter, close with Escape.

Dialog Window Preview

Click any internal link in a document and the linked content opens in a dialog window — right on top of your current document without any page navigation. You can read the full content of the linked item, scroll through it, and review it completely from the dialog.

When you're done, close the dialog and you're back exactly where you were. Your original document never moves.

If you need to go deeper — edit the linked document, make changes, or navigate somewhere from within it — there's a direct link inside the dialog window that takes you straight to that document. You're never stuck in the preview if you need to do more.

What Linked Content Shows

The dialog window isn't just a text preview. Linked content renders with full formatting and embedded data:

  • Report Cards — Full written content plus the P&L equity curve, performance metrics (win rate, profit factor, total gain/loss, average trade), and trade count for that period
  • Trade Write-ups — Full write-up content with playbook criteria checklist and linked performance context
  • Trade Reviews — Complete review with the TradingView chart showing execution markers, performance data, R-ratio, playbook adherence, and strategy rule compliance
  • Playbooks — Full playbook content and criteria checklist
  • Strategies — Strategy rules and content
  • Trade Plans — Full plan content with table of contents
  • Session Notes — Full session content and quick notes
  • Chart Books — Chart image with tags and description
  • Trader's Notebook Notes — Full note content

Everything renders exactly as it does in the native view — formatted, structured, and readable — inside the dialog.

Why This Matters

Your Journal Should Work Like a Knowledge Base

Most traders keep their journal as a collection of disconnected documents. Trade write-ups in one place, playbooks somewhere else, session notes separate. You know the connections exist — this trade used that playbook, this session was related to that report card — but nothing links them together. Internal linking changes that. Your journal becomes a web of connected content where every piece references the others.

Review Without Losing Your Place

The most practical use case is the review workflow. You're working through a playbook and you want to reference your three best trades for that setup. Link them directly in the playbook document. The next time you're reviewing that playbook before the open, you click one of those links, the trade review opens in a dialog, you read through the chart and execution notes, close the dialog, and keep reading the playbook. No navigation, no tab switching, no losing your place.

That same workflow applies everywhere. Reviewing a trading plan and want to check the strategies referenced in it? Link them and read them in place. Writing a report card and want to pull up the session note from a rough day that week? Link it and read it in the dialog without leaving the report card.

Connect Your Best Examples to Your Playbooks

One of the most powerful uses of internal linking is building a playbook that references real examples from your own trading. Link your best executions of a setup directly inside the playbook document — the trades where the criteria were met, the entry was clean, and the result matched what the setup was supposed to produce. Over time, your playbook becomes a documented, example-backed reference with real trades attached, not just rules written in isolation.

How to Use It

  1. Open any document in the editor
  2. Place your cursor where you want to add the link
  3. Type / to open the slash command menu
  4. Scroll to Internal Links or type the content type to filter
  5. Select the content type you want to link
  6. Search for the specific item and select it
  7. The link is inserted inline in your document

Opening a Linked Item

  1. Click any internal link inside a document
  2. The linked content opens in a dialog window over your current document
  3. Read, scroll, and review the full content from the dialog
  4. Click the navigation link inside the dialog to go directly to that document if needed
  5. Close the dialog to return to your original document

Slash commands and internal linking are available on all plans.
